5 ways that Linerless Label Printing can help your business

Printed labels are commonly used for product and delivery labelling. These labels provide information about the order, box or pallet contents, customer destination address, return address, and other useful information.

Packing labels have traditionally been supplied as individual pre-cut labels on rolls of lining paper, for use with label printers, with each adhesive label then being peeled from the liner after printing.

The newer technology of linerless label printing uses a complete roll of adhesive paper, cutting each label to only the length required, all from the same roll.

A more versatile and efficient labelling solution

If you're looking for a cost effective, greener and more versatile labelling solution, then linerless labels are for you!
Read on for reasons why linerless label printing could be the perfect match for your business...

1. No liner waste - No disposal costs.

Linerless labels have no backing paper, they don't need the release paper that traditional label rolls use. Linerless rolls are simply a continuous roll of adhesive paper, ready to be printed and cut when needed.
So there is no more collecting backing liners and sending for recycling (many cannot be easily recycled) or to landfill.

2. More efficient - Variable length labels from the same roll.

Each label can be printed and cut to the length required, saving valuable label paper for printing more. As the printer uses a continuous roll of adhesive paper, every millimetre of paper roll can be utilised for making labels. Linerless labels have up to 40% more paper per roll, all ready to be printed and used.

3. Increased speed and productivity.

No backing paper means no more peeling labels after printing. And no more tidying up discarded lining paper in workspaces. Linerless label printing is more efficient, reduces tasks and speeds up production, meaning more of your packages are labelled and ready for delivery in a less time.

4. Eco friendlier labels.

Many traditional label roll liners are covered with silicone coating making it harder to recycle. These traditional liners often end up in landfill. Linerless labels eliminate all this waste.
Linerless labels use all of the space on the label roll, due to no spaces between labels. This means more labels per roll, more per box/pack, and a lot more per pallet delivery! This can mean fewer deliveries, less fuel and reduced overall carbon footprint.

5. Improved workplace safety.

Label liners are designed to be smooth and can be a slip hazard. Reducing potential hazards in the workplace can help avoid staff shortages and other issues occurring from injury on company premises.
Linerless labels don't use liners, so this hazard risk is completely removed.

We've covered the Pros.. are there any Cons?

While linerless labels are definitely more efficient and versatile, there are some more points to consider...

Linerless labels are always cut square or rectangular.
If you require different shaped labels, eg. rounded corners or die-cut circles, then traditional label printing may be more suited to your needs.

You may need to replace your printers - but free hire/lease is an option.
Linerless printing requires slightly different technology and extra functionality, including cutting the label paper to length. If you already use traditional label solutions, this would usually mean either replacing your printers or modifications to existing models.

But don't be put off - At Bonus Trading we can supply new linerless label printers free of charge on hire/lease, based on regular label roll orders. Please contact us for more details.
